Locals may recall Main Street resident Brian Weller set up a plant stall to raise money for the HELP AT HOME initiative - which was kicked off by Sam Smith, Claire and Dan at the Black Horse and supported by the Foxton Parish Council.

Thanks to everyone who contributed plants and made purchases. Brian managed to raise over £150 for the cause. Well done Brian!!

The organisers took votes from locals and have decided to split out the funds amongst those who really stepped up during the Covid 19 outbreak... and present each with some vouchers to spend up at the Black Horse.

Top three superstars are:

1) Mike Ward, for his sterling work putting together the Folio during lockdown and delivering it, despite being in the vulnerable category himself.

2) Ali and Mandi Mayer on Middle Street, who put on a number of fantastic events for VE Day and for Capt Tom's award

3) Sion Roberts who generously provided delicious free beer from Langton Brewery, providing much needed sustenance for all of the volunteers who helped cover others' requirements on their street.

We want also to acknowledge those who stepped up and helped out on their allotted street and they are: Mary Burnett (Main Street); Marie Woodbine (Swedish Close); Clare Barton (Swingbridge Street); Louise Robinson (Vicarage Drive & Hog Lane) and Andy Ground (Park Close & North Lane).

The committee will also raise its glass to Brian himself, and make sure that he is suitably 'refreshed'.

Sam chose to exclude himself from taking any plaudits for helping - although we are sure that all villagers who were touched by this initiative would want to acknowledge the hard work that Sam also put in to making this initiative work. Well done Sam - and well done everyone else!
